Walkthrough, release 2070e82 with the readiness update
One new workspace, start to finish, on the live site
A workspace made from nothing, six screenshots, StepLoom AI captions, a privacy pass, Nigerian Pidgin with its voice, one step corrected in the editor, a published link, a visitor in a second browser and the Step Report. Below: the recording, and the demo it made.
The recording, 3:46
One account, one story, three takes joined in the order they happened: the creator's browser, a second empty browser for the visitor, then the creator's browser again. One screen recording cannot hold two browsers, so each has its own take; nothing was cut inside a take. The workspace was made for this recording with an address ending in .test, a name kept for tests that cannot receive mail, so no real person's email is on screen.
Open the recording in its own pageThe demo it made, 6 steps
Explore AbujaMart's real orders in SheetScope. This is the published copy, the one a visitor opens: click through it, switch it to Nigerian Pidgin on the first screen, and answer the question at the end.
Open the demo in its own page- How the screens were captured
- Upload screenshots: 6 screenshots of the public SheetScope demo dashboard (https://sheetscope.forum/demo), taken in a 1440 x 900 window. For steps 1 to 5, the point that was clicked was known before StepLoom AI saw the picture. No Recorder, no screen recording and no phone recording went into this demo, so what it shows about the on-device masking is nothing.
- Steps
- 6 steps, one for each screenshot.
- Languages
- English (Main language)
- Words: Written by StepLoom AI; one caption corrected in the editor, typed by the script for the creator.
- Voice: None made.
- Checked by a native speaker: Not applicable, the product team reads English.
- Nigerian Pidgin (Added)
- Words: Translated by StepLoom AI.
- Voice: Made by StepLoom AI (a machine voice).
- Checked by a native speaker: No. Nobody who speaks Nigerian Pidgin has read or heard it yet.
- English (Main language)
- Corrections in the editor
One step corrected, step 5: its caption, and its click spot (it was 121 pixels away from the control that was clicked).
Before (StepLoom AI wrote it)
Click PDF report
Download or export the current sales summary and insights as a PDF document.
After (the correction)
Open the Data quality tab
See how AbujaMart's 118 orders were checked and what was cleaned.
The screenshot of step 5 shows the click on "Data quality". Chosen as: the first caption that does not name the control clicked in its screenshot. The correction was typed by the script on the creator's behalf, after the captions were accepted and before the translation, so the Pidgin words and the voice were made from the corrected English. A person's correction would take a person's time; this run does not measure it.
- Click spots placed by StepLoom AI
For steps 1 to 5, the point that was clicked was known before StepLoom AI saw the picture. How far its click spot landed from it:
- Step 1, City: All18 px
- Step 2, Lagos11 px
- Step 3, Done2 px
- Step 4, Which product sold the most?0 px
- Step 5, Data quality121 px
Step 6 is the page those clicks lead to. Nothing was clicked on it during the capture, so there is no known point to measure against; StepLoom AI still placed a click spot there so a visitor can move on.
- The privacy pass
- StepLoom AI found 3 details to hide on step 6 (money amount), and the script hid them all after a look. The public SheetScope demo already shows these figures, so hiding them was careful rather than needed; this run says nothing about how well the privacy pass finds names or balances. The data page and the privacy test do. This demo was made from uploaded screenshots, so the Recorder's masking on your own computer played no part in it.
- The visitor
- A second, empty browser: no sign in, no stored data. They chose Nigerian Pidgin on the first screen, went through all 6 steps by pressing each step's click spot, and answered the question at the end with Yes. The Step Report then showed 1 viewer and 1 finished.
- Where it was measured
- https://getsteploom.com, release 2070e82 with the readiness update, Chromium 1440 x 900, desktop, one machine, one run. No sound track in the recording. One run, so none of these seconds is an average.
Processing is the sum of the answer times of the requests that did the work (sign-up, upload, StepLoom AI, publish). Scripted look is the pause the script held before it accepted each result: set by the script, not a measure of how long a person takes. The rest of the recording is moving, typing and waiting.
Slide the table sideways to see the seconds.
| Stage | Browser | Processing | Press to result | Scripted look |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sign up a new workspace/api/auth/local 0.4 seconds | Creator | 0.4 seconds | 2.4 seconds | none |
| Upload six screenshots/api/demos 0.2 seconds; /api/demos/:id/steps 2.8 seconds | Creator | 3.1 seconds | 5.1 seconds | none |
| Write captions/api/demos/:id/ai/write 4.6 seconds | Creator | 4.6 seconds | 6.2 seconds | 7 seconds |
| Hide private details/api/demos/:id/ai/hide 16.6 seconds | Creator | 16.6 seconds | 18.3 seconds | 7 seconds |
| Correct one caption by hand | Creator | none | not timed | none |
| Add Nigerian Pidgin and make its voice/api/demos/:id/ai/translate 6.6 seconds; /api/demos/:id/voice 13.8 seconds | Creator | 20.4 seconds | 29.7 seconds | 5 seconds |
| Publish/api/demos/:id/publish 1.4 seconds | Creator | 1.4 seconds | 3.2 seconds | none |
| Visitor opens the link and reaches the end | Visitor | none | not timed | none |
| Open the Step Report | Creator | none | not timed | none |
| All stages | 46.5 seconds | 19 seconds |
Processing is the machine: the time from each request leaving the browser to the last byte of the answer, added up for the requests that did the work.
Press to result is from pressing the button to the result being on screen.
Scripted look is the pause the script held to look at a result before accepting it. It is set by the script and says nothing about how long a person takes to read and decide. The recording itself is 3:46 long; the rest of it is moving, typing and waiting.
The longest single stage was add nigerian pidgin and make its voice, 20.4 seconds of processing.
