A route you can follow on this site, with the Free plan, to get a new StepLoom AI result from your own screens. It takes about the time it takes to read this page, plus the minutes StepLoom AI needs for each step.

- 30 runs in all (one press of a StepLoom AI button is one run; a run that fails is not counted)
The limits are counted for the whole workspace and checked on our servers, not in the page. The Plan page and the editor show what is left.
When the trial is used up, the next StepLoom AI button answers with one plain sentence that says which limit you reached and that Starter is the next plan. Nothing you made is lost, and the Recorder, the editor, publishing and the Step Report keep working.

Make a workspace
- Press Get started and make an account. A workspace on the Free plan is made with it.
- No card is asked for. The StepLoom AI trial is already switched on.
What you should see
The Demos page, empty. Open the Plan page: it shows the trial and what is left of it.

Bring your own screens
- Press New demo. Pick one way: Upload screenshots, a Phone recording, or the StepLoom Recorder (a free Chrome add-on).
- Use screens of your own product, up to 12 steps. The trial does not run on a demo with more.
- Take care with real customer data: use a test account if you can. Step 4 shows how private details are found, and you can delete the demo afterwards.
What you should see
Your screens in the editor, one step each, in order. Phone Steps shows how many screens it found and lets you untick the ones you do not want.

Run the captions
- Open the StepLoom AI box in the editor and press Write captions. Type a line about the demo if you like.
- Read the suggestions. Nothing changes until you press Accept on a step, or Accept all.
What you should see
A title, a sentence and a click spot suggested for each step, with the old words crossed out. The trial box under the buttons shows one more run used.
In our runs: Write captions, 8.7 to 13.5 seconds for 7 to 8 steps; Phone Steps: make the steps, 13.7 seconds for 4 steps.

Run the privacy pass and look at every box
- Press Hide private details, then Find private details.
- Look at each step. StepLoom AI proposes boxes over names, balances, addresses and numbers. You decide which to hide.
- If you recorded with the StepLoom Recorder, it has already covered what matches a pattern on your computer, before saving. This pass is a second look at the saved screens.
What you should see
Each step with the proposed boxes drawn over it, and a count of what was found. Always check the finished pictures yourself before you share.
In our runs: StepLoom AI privacy pass, 11.4 to 20.5 seconds for 4 to 8 steps.

Add one language and its voice
- Open Languages and voices. Pick one language and press Translate.
- Read the words in that language and fix anything that reads wrong. Your edits are kept.
- Press Make voice. Play the clips. Some languages show words only and have no voice: they are marked with a muted speaker.
What you should see
The language added to the demo, its words in the editor, and one clip for each step. StepLoom AI makes the translation and the voice. A person has not checked them for you, so listen before you share.
In our runs: Translate, 14.1 to 16.4 seconds for 4 to 8 steps, 6 languages at once; Make the voice, 11 to 150 seconds for 4 to 8 steps, 3 languages at once.

Publish and open the link in another browser
- Press Publish, then Share, and copy the link.
- Open the link in a different browser, or a private window where you are not signed in. Pick the language on the first screen.
What you should see
The demo with your hidden boxes already drawn into the pictures, and the voice playing in the language you chose.
In our runs: Publish: pack the pictures, 0.2 to 0.9 seconds for 4 to 8 steps.

Read the Step Report
- Back in the editor, press Report.
- Click through the demo once or twice in the other browser, then reload the Report.
What you should see
Viewers, how many finished, and where people stop. Your own opens count too, so expect them in the numbers.
These are the seconds the machine took, from our own recorded runs. The time you spend reading and accepting is yours and is not in these numbers.

Each time is one run of one demo; 4 demos in all, made with the app running on a laptop, not on the hosted site. A run on the hosted site will differ with the number of steps and the size of your screens. We did not time one language alone: the translate and voice rows cover several languages at once, so one language should take less.
